Bigger Boynton Clinic Redesigned With Help From Interior Design Students

UPDATE: Associate professor Abimbola Asojo & interior design graduate student Mandana Motamed  received Boynton Health Service’s Barbara Lee Award for their work on the St. Paul Clinic.The St. Paul Clinic, located in Coffey Hall and operated by Boynton Health Service, underwent a major remodel in the summer of 2013. Now double the size, the clinic is an inviting and modern, healing space that preserves the architectural heritage of the historic hall. A grand opening reception for the campus community featuring Goldy, therapy animals (including Woodstock the therapy chicken), light snacks and giveaways will take place Friday, Oct. 4, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. “We’re very excited to provide more direct access in St. Paul so patients don’t have to travel to…

Faculty Design Featured in Midwest Home Magazine

photographs by Andrea Rugg PhotographyA project by architecture adjunct assistant professor Kristine Anderson (M.Arch ’04) is featured in the September/October 2012 issue of Midwest Home magazine. She worked with builder Craig Johnson of Johnson Smaby Homes to “resurrect” Cabin #10 on Gull Lake, a relic of the Rocky Point Resort, which closed in 1957. In their remodel, Anderson and Johnson worked with the owner to keep the same footprint and character of the cabin, while completely modernizing it. The  owner orginally set out to make a few updates, but when they realized the cabin wasn’t structurally sound, the project evolved into a rebuild that would maintain the original structure’s charm.Anderson is an associate with Peterssen/Keller architecture.
