Dean Fisher Envisions the Future of Healthcare Design at Transform 2012

Dean Tom Fisher will discuss how research and development at the College of Design is impacting the field of healthcare during the Mayo Clinic Transform Symposium on Tuesday, September 11. The annual event brings together innovators, leaders, designers, entrepreneurs, policy makers and business thinkers to talk about how innovation and design solutions are transforming the experience and delivery of health care.At the College of Design, health – human health, environmental health, community health – are common areas of focus across most of its 8 academic units and 10 research centers. Faculty Attend Fashion and Textile Symposium in Beijing

College of Design faculty Elizabeth Bye (Apparel Design), Kim Johnson (Retail Merchandising), and Karen LaBat (Apparel Design) joined apparel marketing and design professionals from nine countries at the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology (BIFT) and International Textile and Apparel Association (ITAA) Joint Symposium March 25th-30th. Johnson was on the planning board for this first collaborative event between the two organizations. She also presented research findings. “The new, oral format of the symposium allowed design researchers to discuss research that is inherent in the piece,” explained Bye, who presented Visual Interruption (pictured right), using original surface design to guide the form of the dress and exhibited the design (pictured above).
