She worked with builder Craig Johnson of Johnson Smaby Homes to “resurrect” Cabin #10 on Gull Lake, a relic of the Rocky Point Resort, which closed in 1957. In their remodel, Anderson and Johnson worked with the owner to keep the same footprint and character of the cabin, while completely modernizing it. The owner orginally set out to make a few updates, but when they realized the cabin wasn’t structurally sound, the project evolved into a rebuild that would maintain the original structure’s charm.Anderson is an associate with Peterssen/Keller architecture. AIA Minnesota and Midwest Home have named Meghan Kell Cornell (BArch, 1998), AIA, Kell Architects, the 2011 Emerging Talent of the Year award recipient.
The award recognizes the individual architect, offering a unique opportunity to highlight an architect’s professional achievement and recognize promising careers dedicated to excellence in the design of single-family homes. Cornell will be featured in Midwest Home’s 2011 April/May issue and recognized at an event in April.
