ASLA-MN Honor and Merit Award Recipients Announced

Each year the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) invites accredited Landscape Architecture programs to nominate graduating students for the ASLA Honor and Merit Awards. Eligible candidates must have maintained a 3.5 cumulative GPA, must demonstrate the highest level of academic scholarship, and must exhibit willingness to work with others, self-motivation, and responsibility. The American Institute of Architects (AIA) Minnesota’s Committee on Design selected four College of Design alumni to receive the 2013 Young Architects Award. This award is given to architects who are AIA Minnesota members, have been licensed for less than 10 years, and have shown exceptional leadership in service to the profession, the community, design, planning, and education. Alumni Receive AIA Young Architects Awards

John Dwyer (B.A. Arch '96, M.Arch '02) and Alissa Luepke (B.A. Arch '99, M.Arch '02) are recipients of the 2013 AIA Young Architects Award. The award honors individuals who have shown exceptional leadership and made significant contributions to the profession early in their careers. After Hurricane Katrina in 2007, Dwyer moved to New Orleans and founded a community design studio in the Lower 9th Ward. In the first 6 months, he provided pro bono design services to over 60 returning households. Caren Martin Receives NCIDQ's Tregre Award for Service

The Louis S. Tregre Award is one of the interior design world's most distinguished honors. This year The National Council for Interior Design Qualification, Inc. (NCIDQ) gave the honor to Caren Martin, associate professor of interior design, for outstanding service at the grassroots level in support of NCIDQ's mission to protect the health, life safety, and welfare of the public by establishing standards of competence in the practice of interior design.
