Apparel Alumni Showcased in Emerging Fashion Anthology

Clothing Design '11) and Hilary Hubanks (B.S. Clothing Design '11) appear in the latest anthology of Emerging Fashion Designers 3 (Schiffer Publishing). The publication showcases work ranging from evening wear to sportswear to children's wear created by recent graduates from 16 fashion design programs in the United States. Faculty Attend Fashion and Textile Symposium in Beijing

College of Design faculty Elizabeth Bye (Apparel Design), Kim Johnson (Retail Merchandising), and Karen LaBat (Apparel Design) joined apparel marketing and design professionals from nine countries at the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology (BIFT) and International Textile and Apparel Association (ITAA) Joint Symposium March 25th-30th. Johnson was on the planning board for this first collaborative event between the two organizations. She also presented research findings. “The new, oral format of the symposium allowed design researchers to discuss research that is inherent in the piece,” explained Bye, who presented Visual Interruption (pictured right), using original surface design to guide the form of the dress and exhibited the design (pictured above).
