Retail Connect 2017 Tackles the Risks and Rewards of Entrepreneurship

This Thursday, students and industry professionals will gather for the College of Design’s annual event, Retail Connect. Presented by the College of Design’s Retail Merchandising Program, the Retail Merchandising Design Advisory Board, and the college’s Alumni Relations team, this year’s event will focus specifically on entrepreneurship and the role entrepreneurs play in our global economy.

Looking for a New iPhone Case? Ask Ben VandenWymelenberg

This spring senior Ben VandenWymelenberg, an Architecture major with a minor in Landscape Architecture, developed a new, natural concept for iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks: wood cases. VandenWymelenberg and his business partner Kevin Groenjes, a senior Kinesiology major, are working with a Minneapolis manufacturing company to produce unique, wooden cases for iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks. They’ve launched a company, WOODCHUCKcase, and are working with a few national retailers and larger websites to get their products out the door.WOODCHUCKcase was recently featured on KSTP-TV (below). “We’re all about putting nature back into peoples lives,” says VandenWymelenberg. “This is the company’s first project and we will continue to find new and innovative ways to develop and sell our product.”  You can currently purchase…
