U Alumni Association Honors Volunteers, Students, and Remarkable Graduates

The U of M Alumni Association honored two College of Design alumni and the Design and Student Alumni Board during an awards celebration on Thursday, October 11th. Ann Carlson Birt (B.S. Home Economics '56) received the Alumni Service Award for her significant impact and service to University. A member of the Goldstein Museum of Design for more than a decade, she has served as an officer on its Friends board and helped to fund a permanent director for the museum as chair of the Director's Endowment Campaign. A leader through service, Birt is known for her "friend-raising," creating awareness of the College of Design within the community and fostering opportunities to engage her many contacts with the college.
