Tasoulla Hadjiyanni Recieves Innovative Education Award

The Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) awarded associate professor Tasoulla Hadjiyanni (Interior Design) with a 2013 Innovative Interior Design Education Award. Hadjiyanni was recognized with a $2,000 merit award or her entry, "Sketching in Interior Design History Class, Thinking = Being." This award recognizes and celebrates innovative teaching and program-related practices that advance the cause of excellence in interior design education. A Design Twist on the Local Foodie Movement

In a classroom on the first floor of McNeal Hall, students wait patiently with plastic spoons.They are inaugural participants in the first Food and Design class, a hands-on, edible experimentation course that teaches basic design principles through food. Today their assignment was to develop an innovative flavor and texture pairing in one spoon-sized bite. Cathy ten Broeke, the state director to Prevent and End Homelessness, spoke at the University of Minnesota College of Design’s commencement ceremony on Saturday May 18, 2013. Cathy oversees the State’s response to homelessness by working with multiple state agencies, community partners, and private stakeholders to create a statewide partnership to end homelessness.
