Dean Tom Fisher is scheduled to be a guest on Minnesota Public Radio’s The Daily Circuit on Wednesday, February 2014 from 10:15-11:00 a.m. TUNE IN: Nicollet Mall Redesign Firm Asking for Public InputHe will be joined by architect James Corner in a conversation about the Nicollet Mall redesign. 3D Printers In Every Public School?

MakerBot wants a 3D printer in every public school by the end of 2013. The company made the announcement this week after launching an initiative through DonorsChoose.org. The crowdsourcing site for teachers will offer discounted MakerBot 3D printers, which individuals and organizations can help fund. It’s estimated that it would take $250 million to purchase enough 3D printers for each of the nation’s 100,00 public schools.WCCO-TV toured the University of Minnesota College of Design’s DigiFabLab yesterday with Dean Tom Fisher to learn more about MakerBot’s plan, which is owned by Minnesota-based Stratasys, and what it means for the future of the classroom.
