Design Mentor Program Matches Highest Number to Date

2018 Design Mentor Program Kick-Off

Now in its 26th year, the College of Design’s annual Mentor Program helps junior, senior, and graduate students grow professionally by matching them with a mentor in their field of study.

“I am particularly excited about the growth of our Mentor Program this year as we’ve hit an all-time high in our matching,” said College of Design Alumni Director Lori Mollberg.

This year’s program matched 303 students with 286 mentors representing more than 135 different firms and organizations. Beginning in November, mentor pairs meet to discuss student career goals and interests and then work together to pursue those goals through career exploration, networking, and professional skill development over the course of the academic year. Through the Mentor Program new connections, both personal and professional, are fostered and built between the college and local design community.

Despite being one of the smallest colleges at the University, the College of Design’s mentor program is one of the largest. “The fact that we are able to have such a robust mentor program says a lot about the incredible support and generosity of the professional design community and the motivation and drive of our students,” said Mollberg.
