Making Connections with the Interior Design Student Association

Interior design students have a new way to connect with one another and the design community in the revamped Interior Design Student Association (IDSA). This year’s senior class has expanded the student group by creating larger scale events and focusing on forging connections between students and the local design community. Student group leader Abigail Lundstrom tells us more in this interview.

Why do you think it is important for interior design students to get involved in IDSA?

“Becoming involved in IDSA fosters relationship building with potential employers and coworkers. We strive to create a positive learning environment that provides opportunities to network while strengthening the bond amongĀ our cohort. IDSA is a fun way to be a professional student!”

What kind of activities and projects do group members participate in?

“We aim to connect interior design majors and minors with the professional community while encouraging communication with other students and faculty in the department. Our activities include firm tours, interior design panels, portfolio reviews, and study sessions.”

What do you have planned for this semester?

“This semester we are hosting one large event each month, including a student social hour and work review in March and a professional discussion panel in April. In addition to our monthly events, we also plan some casual studio working nights where students of all classes can give and receive feedback on projects while working on assignments.”

How can students get involved?

“Students can attend any planned events and/or contact Lexi Sosalla for more information.”
