Give to Design Global Outreach and Support our Students and Children Overseas

[Update: August 25, 2014]

Last week, Dean Fisher reached out to you to support our Design Global Outreach project. We are one week in and almost halfway to our goal of $5,000- but we still need your help.

In 2013, you raised over $5,000 and helped

18 students design and create
100 uniforms and 40 dresses, then partner with
Two organizations in East Africa to distribute the garments to
70 children.

To do it again, we need your help!

DGO_Student1.jpgI have the privilege of teaching the Technical Design Studio that will make dresses and school uniforms this fall. Students in the past have said how this class pushed them to expand their knowledge of what designers really do and how design can impact another person’s life. Since this project began three years ago, I have had the incredible opportunity to see our students make a real difference around the world.

This year, sixteen students have the opportunity to design with the needs of others in mind. For the kids who receive our garments, well-made clothing is truly a gift. Please, give if you can and support design that makes a difference.

Thank you,

Dr. Lucy Elizabeth Dunne
Assistant Professor, Design Housing and Apparel

Have you joined the movement? On Monday, I asked you to join our Design Global Outreach initiative to help orphans and children overseas. It’s an opportunity for you to help provide school uniforms for children in need, and support our students here in the United States. This year we are partnering with a new organization in Nicaragua- but we need you to help us make these uniforms!

Will you help us cover the materials and shipping costs to get these products to children in need? 100 percent of your donation will go to buy materials and cover the shipping costs.

Help us raise $5,000 by August 29 – Give $20

We need everyone’s help to reach our goal, and I’m counting on you to join the movement. Join this growing commitment and Give a Gift with global impact!

Every day we are surrounded by people, organizations, and even
colleges doing their part to help improve the lives of others. Join me
in supporting our Design Global Outreach campaign to help provide school
uniforms for children in need overseas, while supporting students here
at the College of Design. You’ll make a gift with twice the impact.

For the past three years, students in one of our Apparel Design classes have designed and created clothing for children in rural villages in Haiti, India, Tanzania, and Uganda. This year they’ll partner with two new organizations!

Contribute to this project and support our students locally as well as children around the world. 100 percent of your donation will go to materials and shipping costs.
