Monday Minute, January 30, 2012: Vision, Visibility and Vitality
With RFPs for investments in our vision, visibility and vitality due today, January 31, I thought I’d take the opportunity to once again stress how valuable your ideas in these areas are as we look to the future. As we prepare students for the social, environmental and economic ramifications of each problem they address and every decision they make in their work, we must do the same in ours.
Along similar lines, a number of faculty and I met with the folks from the Office of Technology Commercialization last fall to discuss the commercialization of University developed Intellectual Property. This has financial benefits for the College and creators, as well as the public through job creation and the introduction of innovative products and services.
Consider your recent work, and if you believe you may have developed something that has commercial value, or if you have a company that has expressed interest in your work, please contact Leza Besemann in the Office for Technology Commercialization (OTC) to discuss. OTC will provide guidance on next steps.
Don’t hold back in responding to either of these opportunities. Our goal is to elicit your most institutionally beneficial or commercially viable ideas and to support as many of them as we can.
Have a good week.
